FareShare Cymru works to fight hunger by tackling food waste. We take surplus edible food from the food industry and redistribute it to organisations that feed people in need.
Warehouse Assistants needed to help us fight hunger and tackle food waste.
Help us fight hunger by tackling food waste. You’ll gain valuable work experience doing a varied range of tasks while making a real difference to your community. FareShare Cymru needs volunteers aged 16+ to help in its warehouse to quality control, assess, sort and record donated food at the depot, in line with food safety legislation. This ensures we supply our Community Food members with only high quality, wholesome food. Responsibilities: as part of a team, sort through the surplus food when it is brought back to the depot. This will involve checking food quality, use by and best before dates, categorising, tallying and recording food available for delivery; Assist project co-ordinators to ensure smooth running of shifts. This includes taking shared responsibility for health, safety and food hygiene during the shift and ensuring the sorting and storage areas are kept clean and tidy.
