What does your organisation/group do?
Shining Stars Cardiff CIC is a vibrant community interest company dedicated to providing affordable childcare for children age 2-5 years old, in a nurturing and stimulating environment. Our mission is to help children shine by fostering creativity, learning, and personal growth, as well as helping ethnic minority women gain work experience, training and confidence to enter the workforce. We are continually expanding on ideas to help out the community, and are currently organising an English Conversational Class for ethnic minority women with children under 5 years old.
What we’re looking for:
As a Volunteer Administrator, you will play a vital role in the smooth running of our nursery school. Your key responsibilities will include:
– Managing records and documentation.
– Organising schedules and supporting daily operations.
– Handling inquiries and liaising with staff and parents.
– Assisting with administrative tasks using various IT tools.
We’re seeking someone with:
– Good IT skills (e.g., MS Office, Google Workspace).
– Strong organisational abilities and attention to detail.
– The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
– A commitment to volunteering for the school year (part-time).
Special Requirements Outline of the role (include duties and responsibilities
This position is flexible, but we would prefer a commitment of at least 2 mornings a week at the start to help manage and create new systems to maintain. Access to your own laptop would be useful, but not necessary, but expert digital skills needed. An enhanced DBS would eventually be necessary as we are working with children on a daily basis, but this can be arranged later on.
1. Record Management:
– Maintain and update student and staff records, including attendance logs, enrolment details, and contact information.
2. IT Support:
– Manage digital files and documents, ensuring they are correctly stored and easily accessible.
3. Data Entry:
– Input and update information in administrative systems, such as tracking student progress or managing waiting lists, etc.
4. Ad-hoc as needed to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the nursery.
We will train as appropriate on any systems required. Volunteers will also have access to any additional training available. As a valued volunteer, you’ll receive:
– Full training and support.
– Professional references after 3 months of service.
– Tempo Time Credits, which you can exchange for experiences, learning opportunities, and activities.
