Our Objective is to help, support and enable older people in Cardiff and the Vale to maintain their independence and improve the quality of their lives, particularly where they are lonely and isolated.
We aim to provide social contact through volunteers visiting people in their own homes or taking them out to activities, listening to problems or concerns, or providing information and helping with shopping or small practical tasks. Some volunteers also provide telephone befriending on a regular basis as an extra means of contact, or offer transport to important appointments.
If you are a good listener, empathetic, reliable and trustworthy, you can help. You need to be aged 18+, and to be able to make a commitment for a minimum of 6 months: we will also require two character references, and will carry out a DBS check before you can start. For transport opportunities, you will need a full, clean driving license, up-to-date insurance, and access to your own transport.
