We are looking for volunteers to run our “Wellbeing Tuesday” in STAR hub, Tremorfa. “Wellbeing Tuesday” is a friendly space for adults to try out a range of activities to boost their health and wellbeing. The group helps people improve their physical wellbeing but also make friends in their area.
The group runs every Tuesday 9.30am to 1pm (volunteer needed 9am – 1.30pm) at STAR Hub, Muirton Road, Tremorfa, CF24 2SJ.
We are looking for people who:
- Are interested in people and their stories. The ideal volunteer will provide a warm welcome to everyone who comes, enjoy talking to people and be good at initiating conversations.
- Can lead the session. We need people who come when they say they will, are happy to plan and lead group activities and could problem solve with staff if an issue came up.
- Have an interest in health and wellbeing for a wide range of health needs. You don’t need to be an expert but the ideal volunteer would have ideas about wellbeing activities they could run after the walk that could work for lots of different people.
- Could run a gentle movement session online. We might ask volunteers to run our “Wake Up and Stretch” session online. We would provide full training but you would need to be happy to be on camera and lead exercises
- Communicate with their mentor and hub staff. The volunteer will need to let the mentor know what hours they volunteered and how many people attended. The volunteer will also need to let the mentor know straight away if they are worried about any attendees.
Special requirements:
– You must be 18 or over
– You must be able to volunteer on a predictable schedule (weekly is ideal but it’s more important that we can plan around your availability)
– We will ask for 2 references before you start volunteering with us (please chat to us if you have any concerns)
– The group is conducted in English so your spoken English needs to allow you to explain activities to the group and answer adhoc queries and requests.
– We’re not able to provide certificates of sponsorship or support people to relocate so this vacancy is for people already living in or near Cardiff.
